Residents in the British village of Piddington are voting on Tuesday in a symbolic local referendum about whether to declare their village 'independent' from the UK. The vote is taking place in protest at government plans to house around 1,200 male asylum seekers at nearby military barracks. The results are expected Wednesday morning.
